Cloth, cord, clay or stone is chosen by hand for grain, weight and character before work begins.
The piece is cut, shaped or formed by an artisan, working to the exact design by hand.
Detailing, embellishment or finishing work — beading, printing, painting or stitching — is added by hand.
Every piece is checked by hand before it leaves Ahmedabad, so small natural variations are seen, not hidden.
Chandni is moonlight, and this is the cushion that shade of white would make. The front is hand-knotted ivory cotton macramé, a raised diamond of knots that holds shadow the way a courtyard holds the moon, finished with a soft fringe along the hem. It softens a sofa, a reading chair or the head of a bed, and it was made to sit between its tufted siblings, the Jaali Tufted Cushion Covers, Set of 2.

Macramé is knotting raised to a craft — no loom, no needle, just cord worked into pattern by hand, a technique India has used for everything from temple hangings to jhula ropes. Chandni brings it to the sofa: a single ivory field where the only ornament is texture and the shadow it throws. Where the rest of our Home edit leans into indigo and stone, this piece keeps the shelf soft and pale, like moonlight left on the furniture.

Is this sold singly or as a set?
Chandni is a single cover. Its companion, the Jaali Tufted Cushion Cover, comes as a set of two — one Chandni between two Jaali covers gives you a finished three-cushion sofa.
Is the filler included?
No — this is a cover only, with a concealed zip. A 16 × 16 in (40 × 40 cm) insert will fit.
How do I wash hand-knotted macramé?
Gentle hand wash in cold water, reshape the knots while damp, dry flat in the shade. No machine cycle and no tumble dryer — both pull the knots out of shape.
Is a cushion cover the same as a cushion?
Not quite. A cushion is the cover plus the filling; what we sell is the cover on its own, so you can dress an insert you already own or buy a plain 16 × 16 in (40 × 40 cm) insert separately. That's what lets the macramé itself — not a bundled filling — be the thing you're paying for.
Will this work on a leather sofa?
Yes — ivory macramé reads especially well against leather, where the knotted texture and fringe give a smooth, dark surface something to catch the light on. It sits equally well on fabric upholstery.
Block printing and hand embroidery are done in small batches in Ahmedabad, slight unevenness in print or stitch is the mark of the hand that made it.
