How it's made

Cloth, cord, clay or stone is chosen by hand for grain, weight and character before work begins.

The piece is cut, shaped or formed by an artisan, working to the exact design by hand.

Every piece is checked by hand before it leaves Ahmedabad, so small natural variations are seen, not hidden.

These chandbali earrings keep the traditional crescent silhouette and add a row of ghungroo bells at the drop. The crescent is a fabric-covered base rather than cast metal, which is why a 6cm drop still sits light on the ear. Handcrafted in Ahmedabad for weddings, festivals and every occasion that deserves a little more, they come in five colours: blue, rani pink, purple, teal green and maroon.

Chandbalis are one of the oldest earring forms in Indian jewellery. This one is made by hand in Ahmedabad and updates the classic silhouette with colour saturation and the texture of ghungroo bells at the base. The result is festive without being heavy the earring hangs at about 6cm, stays comfortable over long hours, and catches light in a way that photographs well.

Wear these with a kurta and the outfit is done. The earring carries the look; everything else can be simple.

The Story

The chandbali is named for the crescent moon and it's shaped like. It is one of the oldest earring forms in Indian jewellery, worn for generations at weddings and festivals. We made ours by hand in Ahmedabad, building the crescent on a fabric-covered base rather than casting it in metal, then adding saturated colour, a kundan setting and a row of ghungroo bells. Festive without the weight: it hangs long, stays comfortable for hours, and does the talking so the rest of your outfit doesn't have to.
