Indian artisans block-printed this by hand using traditional Ajrakh techniques on modal silk. The Nilufar Modal Silk Stole is a limited edition piece, five variants (Navy Ajrakh, Crimson Kalam, Sheesh Mahal, Shahi Ajrakh, Mocha Ajrakh), one of each in stock. Modal silk drapes differently from cotton or synthetic; it moves with you and holds colour without washing out. Wear it over a kurta, over western wear, or on its own. Throw it over your shoulder with the Ikat Tote Bag and the daytime look turns evening.

The Story

Nilufar is the old word for the water lily, and the print carries that quiet. Artisans block-print each stole by hand in the Ajrakh tradition, a craft that runs through many rounds of natural dye and resist before the pattern settles. We chose modal silk because it drapes softly and keeps its colour wash after wash. Made in small numbers in Ahmedabad, one of each variant. The slight shift from one print to the next is the mark of the hand that made it.

Wash & Care
  • Dry clean recommended for the longest life and the cleanest print.
  • If washing at home: gentle hand wash in cold water, separately, with mild detergent. No soaking, no wringing.
  • Ajrakh is dyed with natural colour, slight bleeding in the first washes is normal and stabilises over time.
  • Dry flat in shade. Do not bleach.
  • Iron on low heat on the reverse side.

Each stole is block-printed by hand in Ahmedabad. The small shift from one print to the next is part of the craft.
