In the maker's hand

One piece in this print. Indian artisans hand block-printed and dyed this Ajrakh stole on mocha brown modal silk: cream motifs and a darker border. It measures 28 × 72 inches, a light stole or scarf size. Wear it as a light dupatta over a kurta, as a scarf over western clothing, or over one shoulder. Mocha is the earthy one: warm brown with cream, easy with ivory, olive, denim and black, and the print that suits winter best.

The Story

Nilufar is the old word for the water lily, and the prints carry that quiet. Artisans block-print and dye each stole by hand in the Ajrakh tradition, and we chose modal silk for its soft, fluid drape.

Made in small numbers in Ahmedabad, one piece in each print. The slight shift from one print to the next is the mark of the hand that made it.

Style It
For travel Over a camel coat, with the Noor Black Ikat Laptop Tote on the shoulder.
With ivory Over an ivory kurta or a linen set, tone on tone.
As a scarf Looped once around the neck over a shirt, a jacket or a coat.
Questions

How big is the stole? 28 × 72 inches: a light stole or scarf size. Wear it as a scarf, a wrap or a light dupatta.

Is the design printed or woven? Hand block-printed and dyed in the Ajrakh tradition, not woven. Small shifts in print placement are part of the hand process.

What does a brown Ajrakh stole go with? Ivory, cream, camel, olive, denim and black. Brown is the warmest of the prints and the most at home in winter.

How do I wear it? As a light dupatta over a kurta or salwar suit, as a scarf over western clothing, or draped over one shoulder.

How should I care for it? Dry clean is recommended, or hand wash separately in cold water. Dry in shade and iron at low heat.

Can it be returned? No. Stoles and wraps are non-returnable. If it arrives damaged or incorrect, submit the HOF return form within 48 hours of delivery and follow the Refund Policy.

Wash & Care
  • Dry clean recommended for the longest life and the cleanest print.
  • If washing at home: gentle hand wash in cold water, separately, with mild detergent. No soaking, no wringing.
  • Ajrakh is dyed with natural colour, slight bleeding in the first washes is normal and stabilises over time.
  • Dry flat in shade. Do not bleach.
  • Iron on low heat on the reverse side.

Each stole is block-printed by hand in Ahmedabad. The small shift from one print to the next is part of the craft.
