Aabha is the long one: tiers of berry silk with ivory tassels set between them, so the two colours alternate down its full length, under a small clear bead. It is real silk, about 9 inches long, on a silver-tone swivel clasp that opens wide enough for a handle ring, a chain or a zip pull. As a tote bag charm its length suits a big tote or a laptop bag, where a short charm would get lost.

Each handmade bag charm is made by one curator in the House of Falguni studio in Ahmedabad, in about an hour. It comes in its own wrap, ready to clip on. On its own it is ₹599; with any House of Falguni bag in the same order it is ₹499.

The Story

Aabha means a glow, the light a colour gives off. Here the ivory does that against the berry. Rang & Resham means colour and silk: ten tassel charms, each named for a colour and made to be tied onto a bag you already love. The other nine are Gulal, Motiya, Zari, Gulabi, Neel Van, Nisha, Raktima, Jamuni, Abeer.

How do I attach it? Open the silver-tone swivel clasp and clip it onto a handle ring, a bag chain or a zip pull. At about 9 inches it suits handbags, totes and laptop bags; on a small pouch, the shorter Abeer sits better.

Can I use it as a keychain? Yes. The clasp clips onto a key ring as well as a bag, so it works as a bag charm keychain too.

Is it real silk? Yes. The tassels are real silk thread. The clasp and the other hardware are silver-tone or gold-tone metal, not real silver or gold.

Who made it? One curator made it by hand in the House of Falguni studio in Ahmedabad. Each charm takes about an hour.

How does the ₹499 price work? It is ₹599 on its own and ₹499 when it is in the same order as any House of Falguni bag: ₹100 comes off at checkout, one charm per bag.
