How it's made

Cloth, cord, clay or stone is chosen by hand for grain, weight and character before work begins.

Every piece is checked by hand before it leaves Ahmedabad, so small natural variations are seen, not hidden.

Mitti is an 18 × 15 inch large quilted cotton tote with a No. 5 zip across the top and one main section inside. Mitti means earth. The same cane-weave lattice as Samudra, printed in a sand tone on white, the quietest of the three.

Mitti means earth. It carries the same cane-weave lattice as Samudra, but in a warm sand tone on white, which turns the pattern from crisp to soft. It is the quietest of the three large totes, and it stands in a neat, boxy shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the large tote?
18 inches wide and 15 inches tall on the body, not counting the handles. The handle drop is 24 inches: the height from the top of the bag to the top of the handle, fully stretched, so it sits comfortably on the shoulder.

Will it carry a laptop?
It has no padded laptop sleeve. For a laptop, the Ikat Tote is built around a padded 14-inch sleeve.

Can it be washed?
Yes. Hand wash or machine wash in cold water, with the bag emptied first.

How is Mitti different from Samudra?
Same size and the same quilted cane-weave lattice. Samudra is printed in deep blue and reads crisp; Mitti is printed in sand and reads soft and neutral.

Can it be returned?
No. Bags and pouches are non-returnable. If it arrives damaged or incorrect, submit the HOF return form within 48 hours of delivery with clear photographs, and keep the piece and all packaging while the request is reviewed. See the Refund Policy.

Care
  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth; spot clean with a barely damp cloth when needed.
  • Do not machine wash or submerge, keep the bag dry.
  • Avoid dragging the woven panel against rough or sharp surfaces.
  • Store stuffed to hold its shape, away from direct sun and damp.

Handwoven in Ahmedabad, slight variation in the ikat weave is natural to the technique.
