Lariya Navy Blue Leheriya Fabric Bangles with Ghungroo, Kada Set of 3

Lariya is our word for leheriya, the wave: a Rajasthani tie-dye in which the cloth is rolled on the diagonal, tied at intervals and dyed, so the colour lands in slanting stripes that move like water across a dupatta or a turban. Also written lehriya or lahariya, the stripe is instantly recognisable across north India.

We cut that cloth into narrow strips and wrap it by hand around a light plastic bangle base in our Ahmedabad studio, then tie on clusters of silver-toned ghungroo, the small bells a dancer wears at the ankle. The result sits quietly on the wrist until you move, and then you hear it. Every set is one kada and two bangles in one colour.

Which size is this set? One size, 2.6: about 2.4 inches across the inside, measured on the finished, wrapped bangle. The bangles are rigid, so they have to pass over your knuckles. Measure a bangle you already wear, or print our size ruler; our bangle size guide shows how.

Are the bells real ghungroo? Yes: small silver-toned ghungroo bells, tied on in clusters, so the set sounds softly when you move.

Are they heavy? No. Each bangle is about 19 g, because the body is fabric over a light plastic base rather than metal.

What do navy blue leheriya bangles go with? White, grey, denim, ivory and mustard. Navy is the set to wear on an ordinary day, not only at a function.

Can they get wet? No. Keep them away from water and perfume and wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
