House notes

The piece

Tulsi is the green that grows by the doorway of an Indian home, kept for luck and picked for chai. These bowls wear its colour: a pair of hand-glazed ceramic bowls in a reactive sage green that pools deeper at the rim and clears toward the base, so no two ever match exactly. Right for dip and raita, nuts and namkeen, a scoop of ice cream, or a katori portion at dinner. They sit easily beside the Coastal Bloom Plates.

The Story

Reactive glaze is a small act of trust, the potter lays it on, the kiln decides where it darkens and where it breaks pale. Tulsi leans into that: a sage green that behaves like the leaf it is named for, never flat, never quite the same twice. It brings the garden end of green to a table that already holds indigo and cobalt, and it turns a bowl of nothing-special into something worth setting down in front of someone.

Use & Care
  • Hand wash in warm water with mild detergent and dry immediately, standing water is what dulls metal.
  • Avoid abrasive scrubs and harsh dishwasher salts; they scratch and pit a hand-finished surface.
  • Brass and bronze deepen into a natural patina over time. To bring back the shine, rub gently with lemon and salt, rinse well and dry fully.
  • Do not soak. Do not leave sitting in acidic or salted food.
  • Wooden handles: wipe clean only, never submerge, and oil occasionally so they don’t dry out.
  • Store dry, wrapped in soft cloth, away from damp.

Finished by hand, so weight, shine and small tool marks vary piece to piece, the mark of something made rather than stamped.
