The Mogra Pentagon studs in firozi: a bright turquoise blue fabric centre set with three kundan stones and ringed with small kundan, handmade in Ahmedabad. Firozi, the Hindi name for turquoise, is the cool, holiday colour of the line. The five-sided shape is 0.9 inch long and 0.8 inch across at its widest, pointed at the top.

Mogra comes as a round, an oval and this pentagon, each colour on its own page; see them with our kundan earrings. A small geometric kundan stud that feels modern without losing the kundan.

The Story

Mogra is jasmine. The three kundan stones gather like its buds, and the small kundan border runs round the five sides like a gajra. Kundan setting began in the royal workshops of Rajasthan and Gujarat; we set ours on fabric, so a pair weighs about 4 g. The pentagon is the newest Mogra shape, and firozi its coolest colour. One curator makes each pair in Ahmedabad, in about 1 hour 45 minutes.

Festive	With coral, yellow or orange: turquoise against warm colours.

Are they heavy? No. The pair weighs about 4 g, light enough to forget you have them on.

How big are they? 0.9 inch long and 0.8 inch across at the widest, narrowing to 0.4 inch at the base: small, neat studs that sit on the lobe.

How do they close? With a stud and a push back (earring back included).

What does firozi go with? White, beige, navy, coral and yellow. Turquoise also suits block prints and Ajrakh.

Care

Last thing on, first thing off, keep away from water, perfume, lotion and sweat.
Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after each wear.
Store in a dry pouch or box, kept separate so pieces don’t scratch or tangle.
Neckpieces: store flat so the chain does not tangle and the fabric does not crease.
Fabric, kundan and ghungroo pieces: never wet; keep away from moisture.
Never machine wash, soak or iron any piece.

Each piece is handcrafted, so tiny differences in colour and finish are expected and make yours one of a kind.
