The Riwaayat Neelambara earrings: a sky blue fabric triangle with white tie-dye stripes, finished with a row of antique-finish ghungroo bells along the base. Neelambara is the light one: sky blue and white, made for daytime and summer cottons. Light enough to forget you have them on.
Riwaayat comes in several prints, each on its own page; see them all with our other ghungroo earrings. They sit as easily with a handloom saree as with a contemporary kurta or an everyday cotton dress.

Riwaayat means tradition, and specifically the kind carried by practice rather than written down. No block-printer learns the work from a manual. They learn by standing beside someone who already knows how hard to press, how wet the dye should be, and exactly where the next block has to land.
Against that we set the ghungroo, the small bell a Kathak dancer ties in rows at the ankle so that movement can be heard as well as seen. Each one is tied on by hand, one at a time. Put the two together and you get an object with two registers, a print you look at and a sound you catch when you turn your head. Handcrafted in Ahmedabad.

Are they heavy? No. They are fabric with small bells, not cast metal, so they are light enough for all day.
How do they close? With a stud and a push back.
What do sky blue earrings go with? White, grey, denim and soft pink. They are the lightest of the prints.
Can they get wet? No. Keep them away from water and perfume and wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
